The TGV Thalys train is produced by ALSTROM and was first put into service in 1996. Since then 17 versions of this unique high-speed train have been put into operation on the Paris-Brussels-Cologne-Amsterdam routes. The trains also run in the Alps and the Mediterranean area. In order to travel these distances the train is equipped with four different voltage and seven different signal systems. With an output of 8800kW, the Thalys can reach speeds of 300km/h (186 mph) when riding on the high-speed track portions of the routes.
